The Grey Nuns' convent, Winnipeg's oldest building, houses Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum. Built for the Grey Nuns who arrived in the Red River Colony in 1844, the

structure is an outstanding example of Red River frame construction. The Museum presents an impressive collection of artifacts that reveal the lives and culture of the Francophone and Métis communities of Manitoba, including a special exhibit about Louis Riel, the "father" of Manitoba.

Facility rentals

Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum can provide rooms for small receptions, concerts and meetings, and such gatherings enjoy a certain cachet. The Chapel area can accommodate 60 to 70 people and is ideal for functions such as wine and cheese receptions or book launches. Its acoustics also make it ideal for intimate concerts. The

multi-purpose room on the second floor accommodates up to 30 individuals, while the Board Room on the third floor, where one can admire the open-beam ceiling, is an ideal location for a small group of up to 10 people. Guests are welcome to visit the display areas on their own, or, if requested in advance, guided tours can be provided.

How to find us

Location: 494 Taché Avenue, between Avenue de la Cathédrale and Despins Street, in Saint-Boniface, part of Winnipeg's Riel District.

On foot: 20-minute walk from The Forks Market by either going over the Esplanade Riel pedestrian bridge which leads to the corner of Provencher Boulevard and Taché Avenue, or over the Norwood Bridge that connects Main Street in Winnipeg and Marion and Goulet Streets in Saint-Boniface.

By bus: Winnipeg Transit routes 10 and 56. Consult the web site for fares and schedules http://www.winnipegtransit.com/main/

Parking: free with a two-hour limit on Avenue de la Cathédrale and Despins Street.
